In short: BT business broadband packages come in three tiers. Essential covers the basics: Smart Hub, unlimited data, guest Wi-Fi and a minimum speed guarantee. Enhanced adds Hybrid Backup on the EE Business 4G network and a free static IP. Pro adds Complete Wi-Fi Plus, Wi-Fi Security Controls, Prompt Care fault fixing and a free Expert Set Up visit.
The three tiers in brief
BT describes its tiers in terms of what each one is for:
- Essential is the core business service: the BT Business Smart Hub, unlimited data, free guest Wi-Fi, the minimum speed guarantee, 24/7 UK support and BT's online security controls.
- Enhanced is about staying connected. It adds Hybrid Backup, which switches to the EE Business 4G network automatically if the fixed line fails, plus a free static IP address.
- Pro is about performance and service. It adds Complete Wi-Fi Plus with guaranteed coverage for your main building, Wi-Fi Security Controls, Prompt Care and a free Expert Set Up visit.
All three are available on full fibre or part fibre, depending on your address. If you want a managed firewall rather than a standard hub, look at BT Business Ultra, which sits alongside these three.

BT's terms list Hybrid Backup and static IP addresses as options on both Enhanced and Pro, and let eligible customers add components that are not in their package as paid options. We confirm exactly what is in your bundle on the quote, so nothing is assumed.
Standard Care and Prompt Care are BT's repair targets. For faults reported by 21:00 on a working day, Standard Care aims for a fix by the end of the second working day after the report, and Prompt Care by the end of the next working day. Wi-Fi, guest Wi-Fi and Hybrid Backup themselves sit outside these targets. No prices appear here: BT's offers change often, so ask us for a quote.
How the minimum speed guarantee works
Every tier includes BT's minimum speed guarantee. In practice:
- When you order, BT gives you an estimated speed range and a minimum guaranteed download speed for your line.
- BT allows the line ten days to settle after go-live, because new connections take a little time to reach a stable speed.
- After that, if your speed is regularly at or below the guaranteed minimum, you report it and BT tries to fix it.
- If the speed stays below the minimum for three consecutive days after your report, and BT cannot resolve it within 30 days of your first report, you can end the broadband on that line, and products that depend on it, without termination charges. BT may ask for the hub back.
The guarantee covers your fixed line, not speeds while you are running on Hybrid Backup. BT bases its speed estimates on business peak time, between 12:00 and 14:00, so the figure you are quoted reflects the busiest part of a working day.
Who each package suits
Essential fits a small office, studio or shop with a handful of users, where a short outage is an inconvenience rather than a crisis. Add a static IP if you need remote access.
Enhanced fits anyone taking card payments, running cloud phones or serving customers online. Hybrid Backup keeps you working if a cable is cut in the street, and the free static IP covers VPNs, CCTV and allow-listing.
Pro fits busier premises where Wi-Fi is the weak point: open-plan offices, surgeries, salons, cafés. Complete Wi-Fi Plus comes with a six-month guarantee for the main building, and Prompt Care aims to fix faults by the end of the next working day. Wi-Fi Security Controls let you see and manage every device on the hub.

Wi-Fi, security and voice options
The package is only part of the decision. Consider:
- Wi-Fi coverage: thick walls or several floors may need Complete Wi-Fi or a Meraki-based design. See BT business Wi-Fi.
- Security: Web Threat Protect is included but off by default. For more, look at BT business security add-ons or Ultra.
- Voice: with traditional lines being withdrawn, decide how you will make calls. Options include Cloud Voice Express, Digital Voice for Business and BT Cloud Voice. See broadband and phone.
- Contract and renewal: our deals page covers contract length, bundles and renewals.

Contact usFrequently asked questions
What is the difference between BT Business Essential, Enhanced and Pro?
Essential is BT's core business broadband with a minimum speed guarantee and guest Wi-Fi. Enhanced adds automatic 4G backup (Hybrid Backup) and a free static IP. Pro adds guaranteed Wi-Fi coverage with Complete Wi-Fi Plus, Wi-Fi Security Controls, Prompt Care and a free Expert Set Up visit when chosen at order.
Does BT business broadband have a speed guarantee?
Yes. Every package has a minimum guaranteed download speed. If your speed is regularly at or below it after the first ten days, stays below it for three consecutive days after you report it, and BT cannot fix it within 30 days of your report, you can leave without termination charges.
Which BT business broadband package includes a static IP?
Enhanced includes a free static IP address. On other packages a static IP can be added as an extra. Ultra does not support static IP addresses.
What is BT Prompt Care?
Prompt Care is BT's faster fault-fix service level. If you report a fault by 21:00 on a working day, BT aims to fix it by the end of the next working day, compared with the second working day on Standard Care. It is included on Pro and Ultra.
Can I upgrade my BT business broadband package later?
Talk to us before you assume you have to wait for renewal. Whether you can move up a tier mid-contract, for example to add Hybrid Backup, depends on your contract terms. We check them and arrange any change with BT for you.
